Why Draymond Green Singled Out Celtics Fans After Warriors’ Loss

Draymond Green and the Warriors were on the road Wednesday night, but the veteran forward nonetheless was in familiar territory.

Rockets fans targeted Green with “(Expletive) you, Draymond!” chants amid Houston’s 109-94 Game 2 win over Golden State at Toyota Center. The four-time NBA champion was asked about the explicit chant after the Western Conference playoffs first-round series was evened at one game apiece.

“It’s not original,” Green told reporters, per a video shared by ESPN. “Been there before, won a championship while it was happening. So, yeah, it’s not really original. Can’t steal other people’s (expletive). That belongs in Boston. So, I kind of just kept pushing.”

While Green brushed off the rough reception he received in H-Town, Steve Kerr wasn’t similarly passive. The Warriors head coach, citing Green’s standing as a father of young children, thought the language was “a little much.”

Unfortunately for Kerr, his feedback likely will only make Rockets fans even more hostile when the best-of-seven set returns to Houston on April 30.
