Nightmare scenario could see Tottenham cash in on Pedro Porro this summer

0 3

Tottenham could sell Pedro Porro for over £50m this summer as PSR pressures force Premier League clubs into some tough transfer calls.

Tottenham Hotspur are arguably one of the best-run clubs from a financial and business standpoint. Under Daniel Levy’s stewardship, Spurs have remained one of the most sustainable clubs in the division.

Much of the club’s income now comes not just from football, but from a wider range of commercial activities around the stadium and brand.

However, most of these off-the-pitch successes have come at the expense of the footballing side of things.

Levy has also made it clear that during the summer window, Tottenham would not make any decisions that would jeopardise the long-term financial stability of the club.

Tottenham open to selling Pedro Porro due to PSR constraints

TBR Football have now reported that Tottenham would consider selling Pedro Porro if a bid in excess of £50m comes in this summer.

It’s understood that the club’s hierarchy are taking a fresh look at their financial projections, and like many others in the Premier League, PSR rules are a looming concern.

It is claimed that Pedro Porro has been identified as a potential asset that could be moved on this summer as Spurs look to stay afloat.

With plans to reinforce the squad across multiple positions, Spurs may need to part ways with a key player or two to fund those incoming deals.

However, reports over Tottenham’s financial position would tend to disagree with this. It was revealed in January that Spurs could lose an extra £250m and still be compliant with PSR. Any one-in, one-out policy could, therefore, be more about Daniel Levy and co keeping the club profitable.

Man City and Juventus are monitoring Porro

Porro, who has stayed injury-free this season, has contributed three goals and eight assists from right-back, making him one of Tottenham’s most productive players in the final third.

Reports suggest that Manchester City are monitoring his situation closely as they look to find a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker. It’s believed they’ve also explored a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

Juventus and Bayern Munich are also said to view Porro as a serious option, with both clubs expected to enter the market for a right-back this summer.

Interestingly, Man City have also been linked with Destiny Udogie, though Tottenham have made it clear that the Italian is not for sale.
