Jamie O’Hara wants former Tottenham player to replace Ange Postecoglou
Jamie O’Hara has reacted to rumours linking a former Tottenham midfielder with a move to replace Ange Postecoglou as his Spurs exit looms.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing for life after Ange Postecoglou, with recent reports suggesting that the Australian’s future has already been decided.
Despite the club’s Europa League run, which has them in the semi-final against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, Tottenham’s dire Premier League campaign, where they sit 16th with 18 defeats from 33 games, appears to have sealed Postecoglou’s fate.
This would mark yet another managerial change under Daniel Levy’s reign, who seems ready to pull the trigger regardless of European success this season. It’s a scenario Spurs fans have seen all too often.
Jamie O’Hara reacts to Scott Parker to Tottenham links
Ange Postecoglou’s disappointing league form could make him the 12th manager to be shown the door by Daniel Levy in the last decade.
Several names have already been tossed around as potential successors, including Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva, Thomas Frank and Oliver Glasner.
However, another name has been thrown into the mix, with Tottenham said to be keeping an eye on Scott Parker.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Jamie O’Hara responded to the rumour, and surprisingly, he’s all for it. The former Spurs midfielder praised Parker as a leader and recalled working with him during their time at Fulham.
“Now, this is interesting, it says Ange is set for a summer exit as Spurs keep tabs on Parker,” O’Hara said.
“I think I’d like Scott Parker. I think I’d like Scott Parker at Tottenham. There’s something about him, I’ve worked with Scott, I’ve been in the dressing room with Scott, he’s a top bloke, a brilliant captain, his football I like, his identity I like.
“Is it a step too far early doors? Maybe, but maybe he needs a platform like Tottenham. I think he’d be alright, I wouldn’t mind it.”
Could Scott Parker to Spurs actually make sense?
Scott Parker’s managerial stint at Burnley has caught attention for the right reasons, not least because he guided them straight back to the Premier League.
The former Fulham and Bournemouth boss isn’t short of top-flight experience either, and even had a brief spell abroad with Club Brugge, showing he’s not afraid to test himself.
Looking at the numbers, Parker’s Premier League record stacks up reasonably well. He managed 1.82 points per game across 55 matches at Bournemouth and 1.30 in 105 games at Fulham.
In comparison, Postecoglou’s tally stands at 1.56 points per game from 93 matches at Tottenham.
Considering the resources Parker has had, that’s not a bad return at all, and there could be a case for the English manager to succeed Ange Postecoglou.
