Man Utd now ready to sign Man City attacker this summer, Pep loves his attacking sense

0 0

Manchester United are monitoring developments around Manchester City midfielder James McAtee ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

The England youth international is out of favour at the Etihad Stadium club and could move on in search of regular playing chances, with the Red Devils keen on recruiting his services as head coach Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his attacking options.

However, Man United are not the only club looking to snap up McAtee, with the likes of Newcastle United, AC Milan, Nottingham Forest and Bayer Leverkusen also keeping tabs on the 22-year-old.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola would love to keep the Englishman having praised him for his attacking sense, but a move elsewhere is almost guaranteed this summer as the youngster will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season, and failure to sell him this year could see him move on for free.

Man United could do with such a talented attacker within their ranks, but his 12-year association with the Sky Blues could see him opt against a move.

McAtee has seven goals in 25 appearances so far this term after ending last term with five goals and four assists in 33 games, with his versatility a quality Amorim could use.

He can play as a number 10 behind a striker, in centre midfield and on the right wing, with dribbling, passing and an electric pace some of his strengths.

Man United have also identified Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha as a serious summer target, with his ability to play in the No. 10 role in the same 3-4-2-1 formation Amorim deploys a major attraction.

The Brazilian has 16 goals and four assists in 31 games so far this term after ending last term with 14 goals and eight assists in 36 appearances, and going after him could be more appealing to Man United despite the option of McAtee.
