Patriots Reportedly ‘Open To Trading’ Standout Offensive Weapon

The Patriots are reportedly open for business ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

New England has been fielding calls ahead of draft night, according to recent reports, and though the club is focused on obtaining draft picks, there could be room for a player or two to be involved.

Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reported on Wednesday that the organization is open to trading players from the previous coaching staff, with wide receiver Kayshon Boutte being “one name to watch.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter had something similar early in the week, listing the wideout among other players who could be moved during draft proceedings.

Boutte, 22, was a standout in his second season at One Patriot Place, so why move him?

Stefon Diggs, DeMario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne and Mack Hollins appear to be fits for the current offense, while too much was invested into Ja’Lynn Polk to give up after just one season.

Boutte and Javon Baker, on the other hand, appear to be on the outside looking in, especially if the organization intends to add another wave of rookies at the position. Boutte produced (43 catches, 589 yards) but lacks the second gear you need from someone who isn’t guaranteed playing time.

The Patriots could still use some upgrades in that room, and it could help to obtain extra capital to help facilitate more deals over the weekend.
