Veterans Super Saturday - 3 May

Royal Wootton Bassett Town will be hosting its Veterans Super Saturday event at the Sustain Stadium on Saturday 3 May with a pair of friendly fixtures against the RAF FA Veterans to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund.

The action begins at 1pm with an Over 50s fixture in memory of David 'Geordie' Salkeld. The Over 35s then take the field at 3pm, with their fixture being played in memory of Jason 'Franners' Francis. Food and drinks will then follow in the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground clubhouse.

We look forward to seeing you - and many others - at the event.

As a club, we are always proud to help build on the close ties between Royal Wootton Bassett and the armed forces, in particular the Royal Air Force. Given the proximity to Lyneham, numerous individuals linked with the RAF - be they serving in the air force or their family members - have played, coached or volunteered for Bassett over the years. And, in keeping with the town's motto - "We honour those who serve" - we hope hosting this event is a fitting way of showing our appreciation for everything the RAF have done for our town and country.

The Super Saturday event is the most important date in the calendar for Bassett's Veterans section, with strong relations having been built with the RAF FA. And the four previous editions in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023 have been extremely well supported. It is therefore hoped that it will be the same this year.
