Patriots Rumors: What Draft Expert Continues To Hear About First-Rounder
Smoke continues to build.
NFL draft expert Daniel Jeremiah believes Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter will be off the board when the Patriots are on the clock at No. 4 overall. And he continues to hear New England will address its left tackle spot by selecting Will Campbell.
“… With the Patriots, I just have continually heard that offensive tackle was going to be addressed, and I have continually heard that that’s Will Campbell’s spot,” Jeremiah told reporters during a conference call Friday, per a transcript.
Jeremiah predicted Hunter would slide to the Patriots in his mid-March mock draft, but a lot that’s changed since then. It appears neither the Cleveland Browns nor the New York Giants will draft quarterback Shedeur Sanders, which causes a trickle-down effect on the Patriots.
Jeremiah’s heard from teams who have differing offensive tackle rankings with Campbell, Armand Membou and Kelvin Banks all labeled the top player at the position. New England, Jeremiah said, feels strongly about Campbell.
“So it’s not universal around the league, but the feeling in talking to folks is that Will Campbell is really well-liked inside that building in New England,” Jeremiah said.
Jeremiah isn’t alone in such a belief. Patriots radio broadcaster Scott Zolak and countless other analysts all believe Campbell will be playing his professional football in Foxboro, Mass.
