Tottenham fans compare Dominic Solanke to Drogba after lung-busting show
Tottenham Hotspur fans have now handed praise to Dominic Solanke for his ‘fine all-around’ display in the Europa League win over Frankfurt.
The queue for man-of-the-match for Tottenham Hotspur is a long one, given how well each player performed on Thursday night.
There really was little to nothing to criticise from that match against Eintracht Frankfurt, as Spurs were very professional in the way they went about things.
Everything was very measured and controlled – the exact opposite of what fans have been used to in recent months.
Dominic Solanke earns Tottenham praise after Frankfurt display
Of course, with such impressive displays comes praise. Tottenham Hotspur fans have already lauded Cristian Romero after what can only be described as a proper captain’s display.
Now, the Lilywhites faithful have handed praise to another Spurs player, this time, Dominic Solanke. Spurs fans agree he put in a complete all-around performance on Thursday.
One fan said: “He was brilliant. His ability to get his head down and keep motoring forward is admirable. He made life so difficult for the centre-backs and provided the option to go direct. In a tough European away game when you’re under pressure, that’s so crucial.”
Another said: “The guy is immense. He works tirelessly for the team and gets very little to no service. Love him.”
A third added: “Gave absolutely everything. Whatever anyone says about his ability, nobody can question his character and work rate. His defensive headers were like prime Drogba, too. Cool penalty. Fine all-round performance.”
One supporter did offer some criticism: “Worked his socks off, composed pen, decent hold-up, still not enough of a goal threat though.”
Another echoed a similar sentiment: “Dude didn’t stop running, I’m so serious. Every time I saw him, he was running after the ball.”
And finally: “Put in a shift! Needs to do better holding the ball up though… like he did close to the end when Kulusevski had a chance.”
Spurs striker Dominic Solanke shows character and hunger
Of course, Dominic Solanke deserves praise, as he stepped up to take one of the highest-pressure penalties of his Spurs career.
It wouldn’t have been easy in the loud and deafening Deutsche Bank Park, but he held his nerve and slotted the penalty calmly.
The forward, however, doesn’t want to stop there. In fact, Solanke has stated that it’s the goal of him and his teammates to win the Europa League.
Asked how far the team could go after reaching the semi-finals, Solanke said: “I think it’s been something we’ve been looking forward to the whole season, really.
“Being back in Europe, from the start of the season we wanted to win the thing and obviously we’re a step closer now and hopefully we can do it.”
