Man United will make a move for Tyler Dibling on one condition
Manchester United have been linked with several players ahead of the summer transfer window.
They have been credited with an interest in Southampton’s highly sought-after midfielder Tyler Dibling.
However, according to ESPN, Man United will only step up their pursuit in Dibling if they qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.
Dibling has been a brightening spark for a poor Southampton side, piquing the interest of United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, and RB Leipzig.
Southampton have reportedly placed more than £100 million price tag on the England youth international.
They are unlikely to recoup as much as that from his sale due to their relegation to the Championship.
Since making his professional debut in 2023, Dibling has enjoyed rapid development with the Saints.
He made five appearances for the first team last season but has become a regular this term, making 33 appearances across all competitions.
With the Saints’ relegation confirmed, Dibling could ply his trade away from St.Mary’s Stadium next season.
Several clubs, including United, are queuing for his signature.
Director Jason Wilcox worked with the talented midfielder during his stay at Southampton as their director of football. Wilcox could help bring the talented midfielder to Old Trafford.
While United’s interest in Dibling has been well-established, they will reportedly prioritise a move for a striker this summer.
Man United should abandon their interest in Dibling
The English midfielder could be a great addition, but United should focus on other targets who can make an immediate impact at the club.
Dibling is inexperienced and cannot be trusted to make an immediate impact at United. The pressure of playing for the club could overwhelm him.
Despite Southampton’s likelihood of selling him for less than £100m, he would still command a sizeable fee, which United could spend on other quality targets.
This summer is pivotal for Man United, and they must sign players who can immediately transform the club’s fortunes.
