Destiny Udogie delivers confident message to Tottenham fans ahead of Frankfurt fight
Destiny Udogie has said that even though Tottenham’s Premier League results have not been encouraging of late, he and his teammates are confident that they can progress to the semifinals of the Europa League.
The wheels are continuing to come off for Spurs in the Premier League, with results failing to improve despite the return of many injured players.
However, the Europa League presents an opportunity to turn around their season and it is clear that Ange Postecoglou’s focus for now is entirely on the competition.
Tottenham face a stern challenge on Thursday as they travel to Deutsche Bank Park with the quarterfinal tie all square, but it would appear that there is confidence among the squad that they can overcome the German side.
Destiny Udogie says belief is still strong at Tottenham
Udogie has now remarked that Spurs were unlucky not to beat Frankfurt by a handsome margin last week, insisting that luck did not go their way.
The Italy international revealed that he and his teammates are confident of replicating a similar level of performance in Germany and sealing progression to the final four.
The left-back told The Mirror: “Everyone at this club wants to win the competition so we are all going in the same direction. We played really well on Thursday, it was a good performance and just the goals were missing.
“We created chances but sometimes you need luck in football and Thursday was an unlucky night. It’s been a really tough season with injuries but now almost everyone is available and it feels good.
“We have 100 per cent confidence we can go through. Obviously, we all want to win this competition so every game is important, it’s tough and we have to give our best. But we are really confident in our qualities so we’re going there, knowing in ourselves that we are a good team, we just want to win the game.”
Micky van de Ven agrees with Udogie’s assessment
Udogie’s Tottenham teammate echoed a similar sentiment a couple of days ago about the challenge that awaits the Lilywhites in Frankfurt.
Van de Ven insisted that Spurs can take confidence from the fact that they dominated the first leg, with the Dutchman insisting that the North London side have the tools to go to Germany and get a result.
