Brennan Johnson reacts to Arsenal fan chants about Tottenham – ‘I don’t really care’
Brennan Johnson has reacted to the insulting chants that were sung about Tottenham Hotspur by Arsenal supporters on Wednesday and explained just how hungry he and his teammates are for Europa League success.
Tottenham Hotspur have had a disastrous season so far, and their rival supporters are certainly taking a lot of delight in the club’s misery, particularly Arsenal fans.
The Gunners had a historic result in the Champions League on Wednesday as they thrashed Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of the quarterfinal at the Emirates Stadium.
To make matters worse, Arsenal fans sang: “Are you Tottenham in disguise?”, much to the consternation of many Spurs fans, who admitted that they could not wait for this nightmarish season to end.

However, Johnson insisted that he and his Tottenham teammates are not really bothered by the noise coming from the outside.
The 23-year-old explained that there is a bit of a siege mentality at N17, with the squad being an extremely tight-knit group.
The Wales international remarked that the Tottenham players are desperate to get their hands on the Europa League, not to silence doubters, but for themselves after the challenges they have endured this season.
When asked how keen he is to shut up the Arsenal fans who sang what they did about the Lilywhites, Johnson told Football.London: “Personally, I just want to win it for the group of players and the staff. I don’t really care about what other people sing and the critics, to be honest. I feel like I switched off from that a long time ago.
“I love the lads, all the players in the squad, all the staff, the management team. I feel like we’ve created a real tight-knit group and I feel like we’ve all been under a lot of criticism, maybe different people at different points. So it’s something that we can all kind of relate to, so we all have that understanding with each other.
“When it comes to tournaments like this and being able to progress, it’s something that we just want to do for each other because at the end of the day, we’ve had some tough times and there’d be no better joy to celebrate with the people that have had to go through it like I have as well.”
Success will feel very sweet for Tottenham
Given all that has been said about individual Spurs players and Ange Postecoglou throughout the season, there is no doubt that there will be a burning hunger internally at the club to ensure they have the last laugh.
Tottenham have had a huge number of challenges both on and off the pitch this season, which is why winning the Europa League will be even sweeter for the players and the coaching staff than it would have otherwise.
