Tottenham fans hit breaking point after Arsenal thrash Real Madrid – ‘Dissolve the club’

0 12

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been dealt yet another blow this season, as they watched their biggest rivals Arsenal batter Real Madrid 3-0 at the Emirates, and the online reaction from the Spurs faithful has been as bleak as it gets.

This might officially be the worst season of all time for every Tottenham Hotspur fan out there.

And while much of that comes down to how poor the club has been in the league and domestically, yesterday’s UEFA Champions League clash between Real Madrid and Arsenal has only added more fuel to the fire.

While many Spurs fans had been taking solace in watching Arsenal throw away the league title — especially after Manchester City looked off the pace and Liverpool suddenly started pulling away — Tuesday night was a new low for the white half of north London.

Tottenham fans react to Champions League humiliation

Of course, as Spurs are gearing up for a crunch Europa League tie against Eintracht Frankfurt, Arsenal were busy putting on a show against UCL royalty Real Madrid, slapping them 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

There’s nothing more grim for a Spurs fan than seeing the enemy celebrate — and that’s exactly what we witnessed.

To make it even worse, just eight years ago it was Tottenham doing the business against Madrid in Europe. Back then, the Lilywhites put three past them in the group stage, while Arsenal were getting ready for a Europa League fixture against Red Star Belgrade.

Now, with graphics of that old result doing the rounds, Spurs fans have reacted to just how far the club has fallen.

One fan said: “Have to remember in 22 billion years’ time the universe will tear itself apart molecule by molecule so none of this really matters.”

Another added: “They’re gonna sing ‘Arsenal in the Bernabeu, Tottenham watching Emmerdale’ while we’re 3-0 down on aggregate to Frankfurt.”

One supporter didn’t hold back: “The black cloud that has followed Tottenham Hotspur around the country this season has just got a lot blacker. This could be the blackest black cloud we’ll ever see.”

Another fan posted: “Arsenal fans singing ‘Are you Tottenham in disguise?’ When does it end?”

One supporter said: “If Arsenal win a Champions League whilst Tottenham finish 17th, we might have to dissolve the club.”

And one fan took aim at the squad’s mentality: “And the worst thing is I bet you none of our players are even remotely bothered about this. In fact, James Maddison probably celebrated the free kicks because Declan Rice is his mate.”

Spurs Champions League decline since 2019 and lack of direction

It’s disappointing to see how far Tottenham have fallen since those days. A team that used to hold its own on Europe’s biggest stage can barely crack the top ten now, let alone dream of a Champions League quarter-final.

This is what happens when a club’s hierarchy neglects on-pitch success. Let’s be honest, had Levy and co. invested properly in that 2019 squad that reached the final, maybe — just maybe — we wouldn’t be where we are today.

As for Arsenal, they simply cannot win this competition. Let’s hope the lights of the Bernabeu are a bit too bright for them next Wednesday.
