Club sporting director will do 'everything possible' to keep £17m Man Utd ace next season
Manchester United could be set for a major summer boost as interest in one of their out-of-favour stars continues to rise.
Man United sent Antony on loan to Real Betis for the remainder of the season in January.
The loan deal included no option to buy, meaning the Brazilian winger is expected to return to Old Trafford this summer.
The £17 million-rated ace has enjoyed a fantastic start to his life in Spain.
Betis Sporting Director admitted that they will try to do “everything possible” to keep Antony in their squad next campaign.
He said (via Mundo Deportivo): “We go try in different ways do everything possible we fit do to keep Antony next season.
“We’re proud of what we achieved by signing Antony and bringing him at Betis.”
Rising interest in Antony is good news
The 25-year-old had bagged four goals and four assists in 12 games for the La Liga club.
In contrast, he has merely 17 goal contributions in 96 games for United.
The Red Devils are ‘confident’ of selling him for £40 million with Atletico Madrid also ‘monitoring’ his situation.
Antony’s flair-driven game seems far more suited to the rhythm of La Liga than the high intensity of the Premier League.
The Premier League is arguably the most competitive league in the world, where even mid-table sides boast elite-level talent and physical intensity.
The Red Devils have endured a tough 2024/25 season and are expected to make key moves in the transfer market this summer.
They would be delighted to sell Antony and use the proceeds to strengthen their squad.
The Red Devils are targeting at least two new attackers, including a proven centre-forward capable of leading the line with consistency.
While it remains to be seen whether Betis will table a formal offer, United will be eager to cash in and finally move on from the Antony experiment.
