James Maddison says he will accept insults from Tottenham fans but makes one plea
James Maddison admits that it is not pleasant to get pelters from the Tottenham fans every time the players go up to applaud them, and has made one plea to the supporters ahead of the club’s final run-in.
This has undoubtedly been one of Tottenham’s lowest points in decades, with the disconnect between the club and the fan base growing by the day.
Spurs fans have marched in the thousands this season against Daniel Levy and ENIC, while the club’s coaching staff have now also exhausted all of their goodwill.
Postecoglou’s decision to cup his ears towards the away end was the final straw for some Tottenham fans, who have now run out of patience with the Australian.

James Maddison understands the anger of Tottenham fans
The players have not been spared either, with plenty of them receiving a lot of heat from the Tottenham faithful over the course of the season.
Maddison admitted that the players are deeply hurt by the poor results and are desperately trying to fix their issues.
The attacking midfielder remarked that the fans have a full right to express themselves the way they do but confessed that it is not easy receiving pelters from them every week.
The Tottenham Hotspur vice-captain told Sky Sports after the club’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea: “It hurts a lot. It’s been one too many times this season. Our fans are rightly disappointed. We’re disappointed. We’re just trying hard to search for the answers to why, in the league, we’re not getting the results in the tight games.
“We’ve lost so many games this year by one-goal margins. So, I don’t really want to be out here talking out of nowhere. Our fans don’t even want to hear what we’ve got to say, do they? So, it’s about just trying to be better going forward.
“To be fair, they’re rightly angry. I think it’s still important that we go over and show our appreciation for them, even though we’re not getting a nice reception, let’s put it that way.
“So that’s why I still walk over there. I think they deserve that, even though it’s not easy to go over and get pelted right in your face. But, like I said, they pay their money, they travel all over for us. And we’re just as disappointed as they are, but we’re trying to put it right.”
Maddison urges Spurs supporters to keep faith in the team
Despite all that has gone wrong this season, James Maddison reminded fans that this season can still become a memorable one if the club manage to go all the way in the Europa League and lift the trophy in Bilbao.
He urged the supporters to stick with the team, admitting that the side needs their backing if they are going to do something special against all odds over the next month and a half.
Maddison added: “It can still be a super special season if we lift silverware. We’re in the quarter-final. We’re two fixtures away from a European final. So it can still be a very special season.
“The message would be, just stick with us. We need them as much as they need us, you know. And again, they probably don’t want to be listening to me right now after another defeat in the league. That’s fine, but I have to come out, I have to answer your questions. So, just try and stick together, I guess.”
