Tottenham told they face big decision on future of 20-year-old this summer

Journalist Rob Guest has revealed that Ange Postecoglou faces a big decision on the future of one on-loan Tottenham man, revealing that the Australian rates the player very highly.

Tottenham have a number of youngsters who are impressing out on loan this season and many of them may have an opportunity to catch the eye of Postecoglou in pre-season.

One of those is Luka Vuskovic, who has shown maturity beyond his years at Westerlo, having been a mainstay in the club’s backline.

While the Croat has attracted most of the attention, another Tottenham Hotspur player has also been quietly impressing for the Belgian club this season.

Alfie Devine has had some injury issues this season, but the midfielder has still started 21 league games for Westerlo this season, scoring four times so far.

The experience of playing regularly in the Jupiler Pro League would undoubtedly be invaluable for Devine’s development, with both of his previous loan spells being in the EFL.

The 20-year-old will have a lot of competition for the attacking midfield slots at Tottenham next season, and Guest explained that the Lilywhites face a big decision on the youngster, who is thought of very highly by Postecoglou.

The journalist said on Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “Alfie Devine, probably another one where a decision’s got to be made, whether he’s going to be another loan spell for him.

“But what I would say with Devine, whenever he has played for Tottenham in preseason, he’s made a big impression on Ange Postecoglou and he’s someone who the head coach does rate quite highly.”

Not only will Devine be competing with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison at Spurs, but he will also have to battle it out with Jamie Donely, with only one of the two likely to find a place in the first-team setup at Tottenham.

Additionally, reports indicate that Ange Postecoglou could lose his Tottenham job this summer. The Australian’s appreciation of Devine may thus not count for much when the midfielder returns to Hotspur Way.
