This Alex Cora Take Will Fire Up Red Sox Fans Before Home Opener
If the Red Sox hit the cover off the baseball over their first homestand of the season, Alex Cora won’t be surprised.
Boston will return to Fenway Park on Friday after playing seven road games to start the 2025 campaign. After a pretty quiet showing from the bats across a four-game set in Texas, the Red Sox offense finally came alive in a series win over the Orioles.
The pair of season-opening road sets obviously was a small sample size, but it was enough for Cora to form an expectation that will excite Boston fans.
“This first (seven) games, it looks like a team that should dominate at Fenway offensively,” Cora told reporters Thursday, per The Boston Globe. “So we just have to make sure we keep doing the things that we’re doing.”
Cora’s take wasn’t exactly of the “hot” variety. After all, the Red Sox scored the third-most runs in the American League last season and bolstered their batting order with the additions of Alex Bregman and Kristian Campbell. The star third baseman, specifically, has outstanding career numbers at Fenway Park.
But as the Boston manager noted, his players will need to put in the work and stick with good habits to ensure a high level of offensive production. The Red Sox will try to get off on the right foot in their home opener, which will have full coverage on NESN beginning at noon ET.
