Red Sox Slugger Has Very Firm Stance On Controversial Torpedo Bat

Torpedo bats recently made their way to the Red Sox, who saw Alex Bregman give the polarizing lumber a test run to see what they were like.

It was understandable due diligence by Bregman, who clearly wanted to see if he could gain anything at the dish from the bowling pin-shaped bat. However, not everyone in Boston’s clubhouse has a desire to see how they’d fare with the popular new equipment.

“No curiosity whatsoever,” Triston Casas told reporters Thursday “Mine’s been working for me for a long time. I don’t see myself changing,”

Casas’ bat certainly was working for him when the Red Sox wrapped up their three-game set at Camden Yards. The first baseman collected two hits — including a two-run home run — in an 8-4 win that sealed a series victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

With his first multi-game hit of the season under his belt, Casas will try to ride the momentum at the plate into Friday afternoon’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals. NESN’s complete coverage begins at noon ET.
