Red Sox Played Funny Trick On Kristian Campbell After Career Milestone

Kristian Campbell wasn’t buying it — both literally and figuratively.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora revealed Boston players tried to play a humorous trick on Campbell, who hit his first career home run Saturday night. Those who were in Boston’s bullpen, where Campbell’s fourth-inning blast landed, tried to pull a fast one on the rookie after the game.

“They got the baseball yesterday, and the rumor was they were going to sell it to him,” Cora told reporters at Globe Life Field on Sunday, as seen on NESN. “He (Campbell) needed to buy it.

“He didn’t buy it, he knows we were just messing with him,” Cora said with a chuckle.

Safe to say the first home run of his MLB career wasn’t the only rookie moment Campbell experienced in Texas.

Campbell will be back in action when the Red Sox close out their four-game series against the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2:35 p.m. ET, and you can watch it live on NESN.
