Manchester United have been handed a huge boost ahead of their Premier League game against Manchester City next Sunday after Erling Braut Haaland limped off against Bournemouth today.
The Red Devils host their bitter rivals and city neighbours a week today and could face them without the Norwegian international striker available for selection after he could not finish their FA Cup match on Sunday.
Haaland landed roughly and eventually signalled to be taken off after treatment, and being without him for the derby against Man United will be a huge blow for Pep Guardiola and his men given his huge impact.
The Red Devils are back in Premier League action with a trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, and 18-goal Chris Wood will be missing for the City Ground club due to an injury.
They could also face a Man City team without Haaland, who has 21 league goals so far, and head coach Ruben Amorim would fancy his chances of getting a positive result as a result.
Man United need to win a majority of their remaining nine league games to have a chance of finishing in the top-half of the table at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, and the injuries to Forest and City could come in handy in the next two games.
They headed into the international break on the back of a 3-0 victory over Leicester City and resuming action with another win will give the players the needed morale boost ahead of the visit from Man City.
Amorim has not been able to spur his men to get the much-needed results since his arrival, but vital wins in the coming days could help turn things around for the club, and recent injury boosts in the squad could prove crucial going forward.
