Plymouth Parkway 3-1 Poole Town

0 19

Poole Town were pushed aside in a 3-1 defeat on the road to Plymouth Parkway on Saturday afternoon.

The Dolphins went into the game sitting 20th in the Southern Premier Division South and were hoping to turn the tide and escape the relegation zone.

Managers Joe Lea and Pat Suraci made two changes from the convincing 2-0 win over Sholing with Jamar Smith and ex-Cherries youngster Charlie Davis returning to the starting eleven.

Parkway got the ball rolling on a cloudy afternoon in Plymouth and Poole were instantly the brighter of the two sides.

The deadlock was swiftly broken within a minute as Selim Saied slipped through Kris Campbell and his saved effort fell to the feet of Ezio Touray to smash the ball into an empty net.

With the Dolphins in control, they searched to capitalise on the pressure and double their lead.

Against the run of play, the hosts were awarded a penalty which was dispatched by Shane White to draw the score level.

With the Plymouth Parkway equaliser, they grew into the match as both sides battled away in search of taking the lead.

Seconds before the half time whistle, it was Parkway who took the lead through Tom Dean who headed home at the back stick.

Moments after the break, experienced striker Matt Wright made it 3-1 to the hosts and put Parkway in a commanding position.

As the game went on, Poole looked for a way to get back into the game, but the home side defended resiliently to maintain their lead.

Josh Staunton had the ball in the back of the net, but it was disallowed for a foul in the build-up on the 80thminute.

The full-time whistle was blown and Parkway secured all three points leaving Poole in the relegation zone and with a huge game against Marlow at home next Saturday.
