“Announcement” imminent as Arsenal deal has already been in place for weeks – Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano says an announcement over Andrea Berta’s move to Arsenal as new sporting director is just a matter of time.
The former Atletico Madrid chief has apparently already been in his new role with the Gunners for the last three weeks, according to Romano.
We’ve not yet heard an official announcement from Arsenal, but it seems there are no doubts that Berta has come in as the new man to replace Edu in that important role at the Emirates Stadium.
See below for details in Romano’s latest post on his official account on X, formerly Twitter, about this saga…

Berta looks like an exciting appointment for Arsenal, and fans will no doubt be glad to hear that he’s already had some time to get to work with the north London club.
After all, this is surely going to be a very important summer for AFC, who urgently need some top class signings in attack after a slightly disappointing Premier League campaign.
Andrea Berta has a big summer ahead as Arsenal director
Berta will no doubt have been one of the most qualified candidates for this job after doing some impressive work at Atletico Madrid down the years.
Diego Simeone has been given plenty of smart signings to bolster his squad, and Arsenal will now hope Berta can use his expertise to take this club even further.
Edu did great work to revamp Arsenal when he took over, working well alongside manager Mikel Arteta to make this team competitive again.
Still, they now need to get over the line and win some major trophies, which they look more than capable of doing.
One or two signings could make all the difference, so Berta will likely have a key role in identifying the players who can be the final piece of the jigsaw at the Emirates.
