Red Sox Make Trade With Dodgers Right Before Opening Day Game
The Red Sox made a slew of roster moves before their Opening Day game, and the transactions were all over the map.
In addition to officially revealing Kristian Campbell made the big league roster and announcing Liam Hendriks joined the injured list, Boston made a trade. The Red Sox sent Noah Davis to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations, the clubs announced.
Davis, who signed a minor-league deal with Boston in late December, will join the reigning World Series champion’s 40-man roster.
The pregame trade marked a return to the National League West for Davis, who was in the Colorado Rockies organization from late July 2021 through early November of last year. Before his stint in Denver, Davis was with the Cincinnati Reds, who selected the 27-year-old in the 11th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.
With Davis now aboard in LA, the Dodgers currently have five players on their 40-man roster who previously spent time in the Red Sox organization. The reliever joins Luis García, Michael Kopech, Kiké Hernández and Mookie Betts.
