Arsenal Eye Hugo Ekitike as Alternative to Benjamin Sesko
Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike this summer, with the Frenchman emerging as a more serious target than RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, according to Bild.
The Gunners are set to bolster their attacking options at the end of the season, and while Sesko has been a long-term target with a release clause of £67m, Arsenal’s interest appears to be shifting toward Ekitike.
This season, Ekitike has outperformed Sesko, scoring 19 goals and providing eight assists for Frankfurt, compared to Sesko’s 17 goals and six assists for Leipzig. Ekitike has also impressed with his distribution and hold-up play, making him an attractive option for Arsenal.
Frankfurt has set an asking price of £67m for the 21-year-old, though his price could drop if they fail to secure Champions League qualification. Currently sitting fourth in the Bundesliga, Frankfurt is just three points ahead of Leipzig and Freiburg with eight games remaining, which could make Ekitike available at a more favourable price.
As Arsenal continues to explore their options, Ekitike could emerge as a key signing to strengthen their attack.
