Tottenham cult hero was so good Morgan Gibbs-White has to clap the mere mention of him

0 7

Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White could not hide his admiration for one of Tottenham Hotspur’s biggest cult heroes in an interview where he was asked to rank players the streets won’t forget.

Nottingham Forest have enjoyed an impressive Premier League campaign, currently sitting in fourth place, well ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, who find themselves languishing in 14th.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have their Champions League destiny in their own hands—win every game, and they secure a place in Europe’s elite competition next season.

Meanwhile, Spurs have to go all the way in the Europa League to stand any chance of returning to the Champions League next term.

It has been a season full of standout performers for Forest, with Morgan Gibbs-White among those shining the brightest.

Morgan Gibbs-White has to applaud Tottenham’s Moussa Dembele

The versatile midfielder has been in fine form, racking up 12 goal contributions in the league—scoring five times and providing seven assists.

However, in a recent interview with SPORTbible, the Englishman was asked to rank footballers who are widely regarded as ‘streets won’t forget’ players.

Unsurprisingly, a number of big names were mentioned, and Gibbs-White placed them in the order he felt was right. But when Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele was brought up, his reaction said it all.

The 25-year-old gasped, “Oh my God,” before breaking into a round of applause to show his respect for the ex-Spurs man.

Gibbs-White ranked Dembele second on his list of unforgettable talents, with only Adel Taarabt ahead of the Belgian.

Ironically, Gibbs-White is currently being linked with a potential move to Tottenham himself.

Mousa Dembele continues to receive praise from top pros

Gibbs-White is far from the only professional footballer to recognise Dembele’s brilliance. Just a few days ago, Vincent Janssen named Mousa Dembele as the best Tottenham player he ever played with—placing him ahead of none other than Harry Kane.

Antonio Rüdiger has also labelled Dembele the most underrated player he has ever faced. Of course, Tottenham fans know exactly what Dembélé brought to the team.

He was an elite-level No. 6, not just capable of breaking up play but also technically gifted enough to dictate the tempo in midfield.

Since his departure, Spurs have struggled to find a player of his calibre—someone who could dominate the middle of the park with such ease.

His absence is still felt to this day, and it is no surprise that even years after leaving, his influence remains widely acknowledged by top professionals.
