Real Sociedad join the race to sign unwanted Tottenham player this summer
A Tottenham Hotspur defender is set to be the subject of a transfer battle this summer, with two La Liga clubs having expressed an interest in securing his services.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham Hotspur make modifications around the fringes of the squad or whether they undertake a massive rebuild in the summer. Question marks remain about Ange Postecoglou’s future at the club.
The one thing that is guaranteed is that several experienced players will be heading out of the door as a number of them will see their contracts run out this summer.
One of those is Sergio Reguilon, who has been backed to return to Spain, with two clubs now looking set to battle for his signature.
Sergio Reguilon is set to leave Tottenham this summer
It has been reported over recent weeks that Sevilla are keen on taking Reguilon back to the club, having identified the Tottenham man as their top left-back target.
Orgullo Biri have now backed up the Andalusian side’s interest in the Spurs defender, but they reveal that Real Sociedad have joined them in the race.
The Spain international’s free agency status this summer makes him very attractive option for Sociedad, who believe that the 28-year-old will fit in well with their attacking style of play.
La Real are thus set to battle Sevilla for Reguilon, who feels it is ‘time for a change of scenery’ this summer, with the former Real Madrid man facing a ‘key decision’ over the coming months.
The other Spurs players who will be out of contract
It is not just Reguilon who is edging close to free agency as four other Spurs players are also into the final months of their contracts.
Timo Werner’s loan spell runs out this summer, while Ben Davies, Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman will all be free to find a new club in June unless they sign a new contract.
Besides this, a number of players, including Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma and Heung-min Son, enter the final years of their deals this summer.
