Tottenham fans will like what Fabrizio Romano just said about summer transfer plans
Fabrizio Romano has provided a huge update on Mathys Tel’s future and how that will affect Tottenham’s summer recruitment plans.
Spurs have the option to sign Tel permanently for around £45m in the summer, but it remains to be seen if that will be activated, with the Frenchman struggling to make an impact so far at the North London club.
Ange Postecoglou indicated last month that Spurs intend to active the option, but it remains to be seen if the Australian’s mind has changed as the 19-year-old continues to find his feet in the Premier League.
Amidst speculation over Tottenham Hotspur’s summer plans, a big update has now emerged regarding what the Lilywhites want to do regarding their forward line.
Fabrizio Romano provides a big update on Spurs’ striker search
Over the last couple of weeks, we have heard the North London club being linked with several forwards.
It has been reported that Tottenham are expected to push ahead with a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, while some outlets have claimed that Spurs are eyeing a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
These rumours may suggest that Postecoglou’s men are considering alternatives to Tel, but Romano has now explained that the Lilywhites will make additions to their frontline even if they activate the option to sign the Bayern Munich forward.
Romano told GiveMeSport: “With Timo Werner leaving, I still expect movements at Tottenham in the summer even if they decide to sign Mathys Tel.”
Tottenham need further reinforcements upfront
It is not just Werner who is leaving, with reports over recent weeks indicating that Richarlison could be on his way out of Spurs this summer.
There is no doubt that Tottenham will thus be in the market for further reinforcements upfront even if they activate the option to sign Tel.
Besides, Postecoglou has said that he wants to play Tel out wide, which is why it would make sense for the club to enter the market for a number nine to compete with Dominic Solanke.
