Red Sox’s Roman Anthony Hilariously Silences Troll With Long Home Run
Roman Anthony is baseball’s top hitting prospect and will show anyone who needs to see it. The Boston Red Sox prospect certainly showed that Thursday night.
Anthony hit leadoff in Boston’s MLB Spring Breakout Game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He dealt with multiple “overrated” chants from one fan in Port Charlotte, Fla., in his early at-bats. Those chirps continued in the fifth inning, and this time, the Red Sox top prospect had a triumphant answer.
Anthony blasted a long solo home run to right field that brought “ooos” and “ahhs” from the crowd on hand. The MLB Network broadcast reported Anthony’s long ball traveled 111 MPH off the bat and 434 feet.

“It’s not the first time I’ve heard that this spring,” Anthony told reporters, per MassLive’s Christopher Smith. “So it’s always funny. But it’s part of it. … I think if they’re saying something it’s always a good thing if you’re relevant.”
Anthony’s “Big Three” partners in Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell also homered in Boston’s 7-5 loss in the prospect showcase. All three players remain in major-league camp at this point in spring training.
