Noel Hunt ‘Disappointed’ After Reading Drop Points At Crawley
The hosts struck late on to deny the Royals an away win.
The Royals conceded a last-minute equaliser at the hands of Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon to dent our playoff hopes.
Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan scored in the first half and it looked as though the Royals would secure all three points, but Crawley scored in the 89th minute to pick up a point.
The Royals remain in eighth but are now five points off the playoffs. Manager Noel Hunt felt that it was two points dropped. Here is what he had to say, he spoke to the Reading Chronicle.
Hunt on the performance
“We felt it was going to be a scrappy game. I thought we dealt with them well and kept them out of the box until the last minute. We dropped too deep and were a little bit loose in terms of the first and second ball and let the cross come in.
“We’ve been so good in the last seven or eight games so I’m disappointed to not have the three points.
“We had moments in the second half in terms of Billy and Mamadi, and Harvey with Jayden’s flick. Those bits didn’t go for us and at the end, with a young back four who were great, they broke at the last minute.
“We have been reasonably good and working two-v-ones and three-v-twos to move the ball nice and quick. It wasn’t there today.
“We will take the (unbeaten) run, but we felt it was two points dropped. I thought we did enough to see out the game. Defensively we looked fine, but it was one of those moments where the details matter. We got the structure right, but the cross comes in and he gets a touch in the box.”
