Tottenham may find it difficult to sell Yves Bissouma to Marseille this summer
A report from France has revealed that while Marseille are eyeing a move for Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma, they may find it tricky to strike a deal with the North London club for the player.
We are still more than three months away from the opening of the summer transfer window, but several clubs are already thought to be keeping tabs on Yves Bissouma’s situation.
The midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs and reports indicate that Tottenham might consider an Yves Bissouma sale in the summer.
Just a few days ago, it emerged that Crystal Palace are expected to enquire about Bissouma in the summer, while Nice and Marseille are also plotting moves for the player.
Marseille might struggle to agree Yves Bissouma deal
A report in Jeunes Footeux (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now played down the two French club’s chances of winning the race for the Tottenham man.
Firstly, they express doubt if Marseille will be able to stump up the €20m (£16.7) it would take for them to push through a deal for Bissouma.
They say that while the Mali international will improve their squad, his arrival would cause a ‘traffic jam’ in midfield, given that the club already have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Ismael Bennacer, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Valentin Rongier in their ranks.
The outlet questions if Roberto Di Zerbi’s side would pursue another big-name midfielder and they also point out that Nice would first have to raise a lot of cash through player sales before pursuing the former Brighton man.
Bissouma will have no shortage of suitors
Bissouma enters the final year of his deal at Spurs this June and one would thus expect the Lilywhites to sell him for a cut-price fee.
There is no doubt that a few clubs will jump at the chance to sign the experienced Tottenham man, including potentially several sides from the Premier League, given the experience the Malian has in the English top flight.
Barring a major turnaround over the next few months for Bissouma, an exit from N17 seems inevitable this summer.
