Bruins Send Message To Trent Frederic After Trading Ex-First-Round Pick

The Bruins said goodbye to a homegrown talent Tuesday afternoon.

Boston worked with the New Jersey Devils and the Edmonton Oilers on a trade that sent Trent Frederic to Alberta. Frederic, who the Bruins drafted 29th overall in 2016, was amid his fifth full season in Boston before he was moved to the reigning Western Conference champions.

Immediately after the trade was finalized, the Bruins used their official social media channels to pass along a parting message to the 27-year-old.

“Thank you for everything, Freddy! Wishing you all the best in your next chapter,” the post read.

Frederic’s next chapter could have a very promising start. The Oilers, who entered Tuesday four points back of the Pacific Division lead, are poised to make another deep playoff run. Frederic’s unique blend of physicality and skill should be welcomed by a Connor McDavid-led group that could benefit from a bit more grit.

By dealing Frederic, the Bruins added their draft capital via two picks from Edmonton as well as defenseman Max Wanner.
