Former NFL Star Advises Patriots To Make This Huge Draft Trade

The Patriots currently hold a great first-round draft spot, but one former NFL star believes New England should look into the possibility of claiming an even better position.

Mike Vrabel and company currently are the only team inside the top four of the 2025 draft order that absolutely does not need a quarterback. The Patriots do, however, badly need an infusion of high-end talent, and Travis Hunter would check that box with flying colors.

There’s a chance Hunter won’t still be on the board at No. 4, though, so Keyshawn Johnson believes the Patriots should take a big swing to ensure they land the dual-threat phenom. Such a trade, as Johnson outlined on FS1’s “Speak,” could be a win for all parties involved.

“New England would be a perfect situation to move up to one, drop down to four if I’m Tennessee,” Johnson said. “Take my shot that Cleveland and the Giants are going to take them one, two. Now, I still get one of the two at four and I get picks if I’m the Tennessee Titans. The New England Patriots and Vrabel get exactly what they want: a playmaker in Travis Hunter. They don’t need a quarterback.”

The Browns arguably represent the greatest wild card in the top four of the draft order. While Johnson believes Cleveland won’t select a quarterback with its top pick, a prominent NFL insider on Sunday reported there’s “overwhelming belief” around the league that the Browns will stay at No. 2 and take either Cam Ward or Sheduer Sanders.

And if Cleveland does, indeed, take a prospect to replace Deshaun Watson, the Patriots might be able to land Hunter without trading up for him.
