WhoScored have named their Premier League Team of the Month for February, and it will come as no surprise to Tottenham fans to learn that one Spurs defender has made it into the eleven.
Djed Spence has had a stunningly rapid rise this season, going from a player who could not get a look in in the side earlier this season to now being one of Tottenham’s most important players.

According to reports, many at Hotspur Way are excited about the former Middlesbrough man’s potential as they are of the belief that Spence has the attributes to become one of the best in his position.

What is particularly impressive is the fact that Spence is delivering these performances primarily at left-back, which is not his natural position.
Whoscored have now released their Team of the Month for February based on the players with the best performance metrics across the pitch in the Premier League over the last month.
Spence is the only Spurs man to make the eleven, with the defender getting in at left-back, with an average rating of 7.61 over the month.
Why Thomas Tuchel has to pick Spence in the England squad
Thomas Tuchel is no stranger to using wing-backs and in Spence, he has the player with the perfect attributes for his system, given how dominant the Tottenham man is one-v-one, both offensively and defensively.
The fact that he looks as comfortable on the left side as he does on the right also makes him very unique and a must-have option in the squad, even if he is not going to be a guaranteed starter.
It would thus be very surprising if the Spurs defender does not make the cut for Tuchel’s first England squad.
