Tottenham newbie could be added to leadership group soon – Alasdair Gold predicts
Alasdair Gold has made an interesting revelation about Kevin Danso’s impact behind the scenes at Tottenham and the journalist has made a prediction about the Australian international’s role at the club in the future.
In the current regime under Ange Postecoglou and Johan Lange, Spurs have decided to prioritise signing young, up-and-coming teenagers and giving them the platform to develop into finished products.
However, the signing of Danso from Lens has demonstrated the value of experience for the Lilywhites, with the 26-year-old seamlessly slotting into the club’s backline.
The fact that the Austrian has Premier League experience previously at Southampton has helped him hit the ground running, while the newcomer has also demonstrated his leadership on the pitch in the games he has played so far.

Gold has now explained that the centre-back’s bubbly personality has lifted spirits at Hotspur Way, revealing that the newcomer has had no issues immediately fitting into his new environment.
The journalist praised the way Danso has organised the Tottenham backline in his first few matches, predicting that the defender could soon be included in the leadership group by Ange Postecoglou.
Gold said on his YouTube channel about the defender: “He’s just a really bubbly, strong character Danso and he’s fitted in so well. Often we talk about the talent of players and how well they play but maybe don’t give enough credit when the scouting setup also identifies the character and personality of a player.
“Danso in that mould has been brilliant, as Postecoglou said, to fit into a team as a senior player despite making such a big step up – he just looks like a man determined to grab this opportunity with both hands.
“I think the young group of players are really benefitting from having him there but I also think people like Vicario are benefitting from having another leader and organiser there. I would not bet against Danso in the next 18 months or so becoming part of that leadership group.”
Danso has demonstrated the value of leadership at the back
Leadership is an intangible characteristic, but its value cannot be overstated, especially in defence where the players have to be switched on for 90 minutes.
Losing both Cristian Romero and Guglielmo Vicario, who were two of Tottenham’s biggest and most vocal personalities, at the same time, severely hampered the side.
Spurs instantly look a lot more solid at the back after the return of Vicario and the addition of Danso, who marshalled the youngsters beside them impressively in the wins over Man Utd and Ipswich.
