Bruins Issue Significant Update On Injured Hampus Lindholm

The Bruins probably are going to have to finish the 2024-25 season without one of their best players.

Don Sweeney on Sunday told reporters that Hampus Lindholm is “unlikely” to play again this campaign, per Boston.com’s Conor Ryan. Lindholm, who hasn’t played since mid-November, suffered a fractured patella, which required surgery to repair.

Should Sweeney’s projection come to fruition, it will limit the typically durable Lindholm to only 17 games this season. The 31-year-old only missed a combined 11 regular-season games across his first two full campaigns with the Bruins and played 66 contests or more in six of his eight seasons with Anaheim.

Of course, Lindholm doesn’t represent the only injury Boston currently is dealing with on its blue line. Charlie McAvoy is nursing a shoulder issue he sustained in the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, but Sweeney on Sunday revealed the star defenseman is “doing better.”

The Bruins, who suffered an overtime home loss to the Anaheim Ducks in Saturday night’s return to action, will next take the ice Tuesday when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
