Red Sox Fans Will Get First Look At Top Prospect, Roster Hopefuls

The Red Sox begin Grapefruit League action Saturday, and fans will get their first look at the team’s top prospect.

After being a late scratch Friday against Northeastern, Roman Anthony will start at left field for Boston. Anthony didn’t play in the Red Sox’s win over the Huskies due to getting hit by a pitch on his elbow.

The club’s No. 3 prospect Marcelo Mayer will play again but will be the team’s designated hitter. The Red Sox’s No. 2 prospect Kristian Campbell will get the day off as Vaughn Grissom gets the start at second base as he hopes to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Ceddanne Rafaela will make his spring training debut at center field, a position that Alex Cora wants the 24-year-old to focus on.

Quinn Priester gets the starting nod against the Tampa Bay Rays at Charlotte Sports Park. The 24-year-old was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates last season and already made a strong impression when he arrived at Fenway South.

Here’s how the Red Sox will line up against the Rays. You can catch the Grapefruit League action at 1 p.m. ET on NESN and NESN 360.
