Ex-Bruins Leader Annihilates Blue Jackets Forward In Unmatched Bout
After getting buried along the boards, former Boston Bruins fan favorite Nick Foligno completely destroyed recently recalled Columbus Blue Jackets’ Joseph LaBate.
The Chicago Blackhawks captain obviously took exception to the hit. The former Bruin, affectionately known as “Uncle Nick,” jumped to his feet, dropped the gloves and landed roughly three lefts before LaBate could even get his mitts off.
The replay shows LaBate hitting Foligno up high above the numbers with his stick, knocking the veteran forward to the ice.
LaBate was making his season debut for Columbus after inking a one-year, two-way contract with the Blue Jackets in November. LaBate has recorded six goals and seven assists in 33 AHL games this season for the Cleveland Monsters before being called up for his NHL season debut. He previously played 13 games for the Vancouver Canucks during the 2016-17 campaign.
Foligno is in his 18th NHL season, second in Chicago. He played 124 games across two seasons with the Bruins, amassing 12 goals and 27 assists before being traded to the Blackhawks after Boston’s historic 65-win season.
