Johnny Gaudreau’s Widow Reacts To Touching TD Garden Tribute
The 4 Nations Face-Off served as a talent showcase for Team USA, Canada, Sweden and Finland — featuring many memorable moments.
Mikael Granlund helping Finland get over the hump against Sweden. Brady and Matthew Tkachuk dropping the gloves against Canada. Connor McDavid’s tournament-winning goal against Team USA. Who could forget?
It’s the moments surrounding the tournament that will stand the test of time, though.
Team USA used the tournament to pay their respects to Johnny Gaudreau, awarding a jersey with his name and number to players following each victory. TD Garden got in on the action Thursday by chanting “Johnny Hockey” during the championship game, which was a special moment for his widow, Meredith.
“So emotional hearing this all around me,” Meredith Gaudreau posted to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Kept thinking how I can’t wait to show these videos to our kids one day.”
Team USA didn’t get the result it wanted, but the memory of playing for “Johnny Hockey” will last forever.
