Tottenham fans receive concerning verdict on ‘tricky’ Cristian Romero injury

0 0

Injuries expert, Dr Rajpal Brar, has now explained why Cristian Romero is taking so long to recover from his injury and has provided an update on when we can expect the Argentine to return to action.

Ange Postecoglou will be pleased to see that Spurs’ injury woes are easing a little, with the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, and Wilson Odobert now back in action.

He will be hoping to have others, including the likes of Richarlison, Timo Werner and Dominic Solanke back soon. However, the big ones that Spurs fans will be waiting for are their first-choice centre-back pairing, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, who last played at the start of November.

Ange Postecoglou explained last week that Tottenham are being extremely cautious with a return for Romero and Van de Ven and are slowly building up their intensity in training, admitting that they are not expected to return until March.

Cristian Romero’s injury could last three more weeks at Tottenham

Dr Rajpal Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, has now shared his verdict on the Tottenham vice-captain’s situation.

He pointed out that the quadriceps injuries are tricky to manage, given the demands on those muscles and explained that Tottenham may not want to rush him back within the next few weeks.

When asked about Romero‘s injury, Brar told Tottenham News: “What makes this tricky is the area of the injury – the quadriceps. There are a lot of demands on these muscles plus depending on the specifics, can also be involved in hip flexion.

“That can lead to a tricky rehab and things going slower than anticipated. The club medics will be progressing him methodically through strength and conditioning while carefully monitoring how he responds. I still see him being out for a few weeks.”

Are Spurs overcorrecting after rushing back centre-backs?

While we are not privy to the full medical information that Ange Postecoglou and the Tottenham medical team have access to regarding Romero and Van de Ven, the situation does appear concerning.

From the outside looking, it appears that the club made a big error in rushing the pair back from injury and they ended up aggravating their issues.

In order to avoid that mistake again, Postecoglou and the medical staff are now seemingly being extremely cautious, perhaps even overly so, as another injury setback for either player will make their decision to play the pair in November look even more disastrous.
