USA Teammate Nets Huge Goal, Picks Up Charlie McAvoy After 4 Nations Injury
Team USA needed a spark in the championship matchup against Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off without Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who remained out and discharged from hospitalization with a shoulder injury.
McAvoy still fired up his team before the game when he read starting lineups in the home locker room at TD Garden in Boston. His fellow defenseman Jake Sanderson of the Ottawa Senators substituted into the lineup and answered McAvoy’s call.
Sanderson gave USA its first lead of the night with a timely goal in the second period to give the Americans the 2-1 lead.

The Bruins offered an update on McAvoy after medical examination before he himself posted to Instagram for encouraging news of his own Thursday afternoon.
