Ange Postecoglou wants to pair Archie Gray with Tottenham midfield target
Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a summer move for an exciting England international, and Ange Postecoglou wants to partner him with Archie Gray in midfield.
Adam Wharton has had a difficult second season
Adam Wharton impressed everyone with the way he began his Premier League career after his switch from Blackburn Rovers to Crystal Palace in January of last year.
The 21-year-old’s displays even saw him being capped by the Three Lions, but his first full season at Selhurst Park has not gone according to plan so far.
The youngster has missed a lot of action due to a groin injury, having played just 10 times in the Premier League this campaign.
Tottenham convinced about Adam Wharton’s potential
Football Insider have now claimed that Adam Wharton‘s injury struggles his season have done little to dampen the interest of Tottenham, who view the Palace star as a superb operator in the middle of the park.
The report says that the Lilywhites are eyeing a move for the 21-year-old, who is viewed as an ideal fit for what the club are looking for right now.
The Blackburn academy graduate is seen by Spurs as someone with ‘huge potential to become a top-class player’, and the fact that he is English makes him a very attractive target for the club.
The publication adds that Ange Postecoglou‘s men are of the belief that Wharton could form a great partnership in midfield with Archie Gray in the future.
Crystal Palace’s stance on Adam Wharton revealed
However, Football Insider state that a deal for the Eagles man could be a ‘complex’ one for Tottenham to pull off this summer.
This is because Oliver Glasner’s men are not thinking about selling their midfield starlet this summer. With the 21-year-old’s deal at Selhurst Park running until 2029, they are in a very strong negotiating position if Tottenham come calling.
