Tottenham should rehire manager with winning mentality – Jamie O’Hara says
Football pundit Jamie O’Hara has stated that the return of former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino could bring back the winning mentality Spurs have lacked in recent weeks.
Pressure continues to mount on Ange Postecoglou
Manager Ange Postecoglou finds himself in a precarious position, with mounting pressure due to Tottenham’s poor form and defensive vulnerabilities.
His Tottenham side have been easy to beat – they have lost 13 games in the Premier League and have conceded 37 goals in their 24 league matches.
During their defeat against Aston Villa in the FA Cup, the Lilywhites fans were heard chanting for the return of former Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino.
Despite the club’s continued backing of manager Ange Postecoglou, recent reports have revealed that Spurs have a three-man shortlist of managerial candidates ready to replace Postecoglou if needed.
Jamie O’Hara wants Mauricio Pochettino back at Spurs
Jamie O’Hara, a former Tottenham Hotspur player, has weighed in on the potential impact of Mauricio Pochettino’s return to Spurs
He believes that the Argentine would bring the organisation and structure that is currently lacking under Ange Postecoglou.
He told Grosvenor Sport: “If Tottenham were to bring back Mauricio Pochettino, he would bring a real difference back to the side.
“He was more organised than Ange Postecoglou, and his Tottenham was a harder team to break down, playing that disciplined, counter-attacking football. Right now, there’s a real lack of organisation, leadership, and that winning mentality.
“If Pochettino were to return, he’d have to bring in some of his own players and address the fact that some of the current squad just aren’t good enough. I genuinely believe Tottenham would be better under Pochettino—I can’t see it getting any worse than Postecoglou.
“But the club has to back Pochettino if he came back – and when I say back him, I mean really back him! Stop signing ‘maybes’ and start signing top-class players. We used to bring in difference-makers like Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart, and Mousa Dembele. Spurs need to get back to that level.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s time at Tottenham
There is no denying that during Pochettino’s time at Spurs, the Lilywhites enjoyed one of their most successful periods in recent history.
He took them to a UCL final and constantly had them competing for a spot in the UEFA Champions League each season.
While injuries have been a major reason for Ange Postecoglou’s side struggles, there is a case to be made that Pochettino did not get backed as much as the Australian has. Yet, he still had Spurs competing at the very top.

Regardless, of the money spent, both managers have since failed to bring silverware to north London. However, with Spurs still in the Europa League this season, Postecoglou could still achieve that feat.
