How 2025 Red Sox Lineup Could Look After Reported Alex Bregman Contract
The Boston Red Sox reportedly made a major splash to close out the offseason by coming to three-year deal, $120 million contract agreement with Alex Bregman, per The Athletic’s Chandler Rome and The New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Bregman brings the right-handed bat the Red Sox needed to complete the roster, balance the lineup and add a swing that plays to Fenway Park. Bregman is a proven winner with two World Series rings and an important leader that joins Boston’s clubhouse.
There’s probably about four different lineups that Bregman creates for Boston that are all based on factors such as whether or not Rafael Devers moves off third base and if elite prospect Kristian Campbell makes the team out of camp.
Based on comments from Alex Cora and Craig Breslow so far this offseason as context, here’s the current projection of how the Red Sox lineup looks after the reported Bregman addition:
1. Jarren Duran, LF
2. Rafael Devers, 3B
3. Alex Bregman, 2B
4. Triston Casas, 1B
5. Trevor Story, SS
6. Wilyer Abreu, RF
7. Masataka Yoshida, DH
8. Connor Wong, C
9. Ceddanne Rafaela, CF
The Red Sox already had a good lineup. They’ve finished in the top-10 in OPS for seven consecutive seasons. Now, they have a balanced and explosive lineup. Bregman’s production dipped in recent years, but he’s mashed at Fenway (.375 AVG, seven home runs in 21 games) in his career and could find a resurgence in the hitter-friendly park for right-handed bats.
Bregman pairs an improved lineup with a rejuvenated starting rotation that now makes the Red Sox legitimate contenders for the American League East crown.
