Tottenham fans will feel sick at Harry Kane to Arsenal claim made by Joe Cole
Joe Cole has suggested that Harry Kane would be the final piece of the jigsaw for Arsenal and has offered his opinion on the chances of the former Tottenham man making a controversial move to the red half of North London.
Could Harry Kane be in line for a Tottenham return?
It emerged a little over a week ago that a clause in Kane‘s contract at Bayern Munich allows the striker to exit the Allianz Arena for just £54m at the end of the season if he decides he wants a new challenge.
This has predictably led to speculation in the British press about the England captain making a return to the Premier League just 18 months after swapping Spurs for the Bundesliga giants.
Paul Merson even taunted Tottenham fans last week by suggesting the possibility that the striker could end up at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
Joe Cole on the possibility of Kane moving to Arsenal
Cole has now discussed the possibility of Kane joining the Gunners, with the former Chelsea man convinced that the Bayern man is the exact signing that Mikel Arteta’s men need to go to the next level.
However, the pundit admitted that he would be surprised if the striker betrayed the Tottenham faithful by deciding to make the move to the club’s fiercest rivals.
Cole told Paddy Power (as relayed by The Standard): “I can see the logic with Harry Kane joining Arsenal – stranger things have happened. He’s gone to Germany, and he’s carried on where he left off.
“The man just oozes goals. For Arsenal, as a footballer, he would be the perfect last piece in the jigsaw – he suits them down to the ground.
“I can’t see it, however, there’s such a wrench between the two clubs. I think it would be too much for Harry. Sol Campbell joining Arsenal from Spurs was a bit different to this, but from a football perspective, it makes a lot of sense, because he is perfect for their style of football.”
Harry Kane is no Sol Campbell
It takes a certain type of character to even consider making the move to one’s fiercest rivals and upsetting the fans who have sung his name for over a decade.
Campbell is the sort of character who is hard-nosed and does not mind upsetting people while Kane is a much more loyal individual, who will not consider ruining his Spurs legacy by wearing red.
The fact that the England captain chose to move to Bayern rather than running down his contract at Tottenham and joining a Premier League rival showed the loyalty he has to his boyhood club.
