Tottenham make Ange Postecoglou sack decision after FA Cup exit

0 4

Despite Tottenham’s elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of Aston Villa, the club’s hierarchy will reportedly not sack Ange Postecoglou for the time being as Daniel Levy considers his options.

Speculation over Ange Postecoglou’s future resurfaces

Tottenham were eliminated from the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in a matter of just three days as they were brushed aside by Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively.

That has seen rumours over Postecoglou‘s future resurface once again, with some outlets suggesting that the Lilywhites are already on the lookout for candidates to take over from the Australian at the end of the season.

However, a fresh update has now suggested that the Spurs top brass are expected to remain patient and bide their time for now.

Tottenham will not sack Ange Postecoglou for now

This update comes from Football Insider, who claim that Postecoglou still has the backing of the Tottenham board despite the defeats to Liverpool and Villa.

The report claims that Levy and the Spurs hierarchy continue to sympathise with Postecoglou, given the injury crisis that the 59-year-old is currently dealing with.

The publication adds that the North London club will not make any knee-jerk decisions for the time being, but results would need to improve over the coming weeks for the former Celtic boss to hang onto his job.

Postecoglou hoping for reset this week

Meanwhile, a separate report from The Telegraph claimed on Monday that Postecoglou has decided to give his players a couple of days off training after their defeat at Villa Park.

The Tottenham head coach will reportedly welcome the squad back to Hotspur Way on Wednesday to prepare for their upcoming clash against Man Utd, and he is expected to be boosted by the return of several injured players.

The Spurs boss is said to be hoping that the days off and the return of new faces to training will serve as a reset to the club’s season on the back of their struggles over the last few months.
