Fabrizio Romano provides update on Ange Postecoglou’s future at Spurs
Fabrizio Romano has revealed whether Ange Postecoglou is in any immediate danger of losing his job after Spurs were knocked out of both domestic cup competitions in a matter of just days.
Season continues to go from bad to worse for Spurs
Given Tottenham’s continued struggles in the Premier League this season, fans were looking at the cup competitions as opportunities to potentially salvage what has been a disastrous campaign.
However, Spurs‘ chances of ending their trophy drought this season have received a major blow over recent days as the Lilywhites crashed out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup at the hands of Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively.
Postecoglou remains defiant despite recent results, insisting that Tottenham will be a force when they have their key men back fit and insisting that his side have the tools to launch an assault on the Europa League.
Is Ange Postecoglou in danger of being sacked at Spurs?
The big question now is whether Postecoglou will get a shot at Europa League glory or whether the patience of the Spurs hierarchy has now run out.
On Monday, some sources suggested that Daniel Levy is not prepared to sack the Australian just yet and that the Spurs chairman remains sympathetic about the injury situation the 59-year-old is dealing with.
This has now been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that as things stand, there are no signs that a managerial change is imminent at Spurs.
When asked what he knows about the possibility of Postecoglou being sacked, Romano told GiveMeSport: “At the moment, there are still no indications of changes at Spurs. Of course, no one is happy with the current situation, but no indication of imminent changes. Let’s see in the next few days and after the next games.”
Why the next few weeks could be crucial for Postecoglou’s future
The Tottenham hierarchy have remained patient and kept faith with their head coach until now, and Postecoglou is now finally set to be boosted by the return of key players.
Over the coming weeks, we will get to see whether the return of the injured first-team players leads to a turnaround in form. If the results fail to improve in the next few matches, Levy will have no choice but to seriously consider making a change at the top.
However, one senses that the Tottenham chairman is desperate for Postecoglou to at least see things through until the end of the season.
