Antonin Kinsky has hit the ground running at Spurs

Antonin Kinsky only arrived at Hotspur Way last month, but he has already seen plenty of first-team action. The former Slavia Prague shot-stopper has made four Premier League appearances, as well as being selected three times in cup competitions.

Tottenham have lost five of the eight fixtures where Kinsky has started in goal. However, the young Czechian has picked up clean sheets in the other three matches he has played against Liverpool, Tamworth and Brentford.

With Guglielmo Vicario still out of action, Kinsky has taken advantage of his chances in Tottenham’s starting lineup. His performances have seen him start ahead of Brandon Austin, a goalkeeper who has impressed since making his debut against Newcastle United in January.

Kinsky has also risen above Fraser Forster in the pecking order. The former England international had been Ange Postecoglou’s preferred option when Vicario picked up an ankle injury last November. His mistakes with the ball at his feet, however, look to have demoted him to being the club’s third-choice keeper.

Michel Vorm praises Kinsky despite up-and-down form

Michel Vorm spent six seasons at Spurs, although he made only a handful of appearances during his time in North London.

The Dutchman is confident Tottenham’s new goalkeeper can go on to have a more prosperous time at the club, and speaking to GiveMeSport, he described him as a ‘signing for the future’.

Vorm said: “I like Kinsky. He is a good young goalkeeper and can push Vicario when he returns to the team. He looks like a promising signing for the future. He needs to play games to get up to speed with the Premier League.

“It’s tough for Kinsky coming into a team that isn’t winning consistently or playing with huge confidence, but he can look to impose himself as he plays more first-team football.”

Antonin Kinsky’s challenges at Spurs continue

Kinsky’s latest performances may be a cause of frustration for him, as he conceded four goals against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and then let in a simple shot in the FA Cup fourth round.

While he made some crucial saves in both matches which prevented the scoreline from causing Spurs further humiliation, he also made some errors at key moments.

Tottenham’s next match is against Manchester United in the Premier League and, with Guglielmo Vicario on the mend, it could be Kinsky’s last chance to impress for a little while.
