Match Report: Dartford FC 5-0 Sutton Utd Women FC

London and South East Regional Premier League, played on Sunday 9th February 2025.

Team: Paris Smith, Abbey Davies, Lizzie Adams, Amy Russ, Xayla-Rae Alberts, Brionne Fowle, Gabby Howell, Beth Powell, Poppy Payne, Emily Vaughan, Ellie Dolby. Subs: Jade Charlton, Georgie Davis, Shauni Griffiths, Sarah Hill, Emily Woodhouse.

Another Sunday, another game and this one saw us return to league action as we welcomed Sutton Utd Women to Princes Park.

Darts began the game brightly and took the lead early in the first half. In the 4th minute, a great through ball put Brionne Fowle through on goal. The Darts midfielder with a fine finish from a tight angle to put the home side ahead.

We continued to create chances as the half went on and could have doubled our lead five minutes before the break. In the 40th minute, Brionne Fowle headed the ball into the path of Amy Russ. The Darts striker sent a volley goal bound that narrowly went past the post.

The home side began the second half looking to extend the lead and we did so in the 56th minute. A cross from the left found Lizzie Adams free on the edge of the box. The Darts midfielder fired an effort on goal beyond the keeper and into the top corner.

The home side continued to play on the front and it wasn’t long before goal number three came our way. In the 62nd minute, Xayla-Rae Alberts put Abbey Davies through down the left. The Darts defender with a smart cross across the 6yd box found Brionne Fowle, who poked the ball home from close range for the third goal of the afternoon.

Darts continued to create good chances and we got the fourth goal of the afternoon 18 minutes from time. In the 72nd minute, Emily Vaughan sent a volley goal bound forcing a good save from Sutton’s keeper. The ball fell to Lizzie Adams, who smashed the ball into the roof of the net to seal all three points for the home side.

We got our fifth goal of the game in the final action of the second half. In the 91st minute, Paris Smith forced another fine stop from the Sutton keeper. The parried shot fell nicely to Shauni Griffiths, who made no mistake from close range to cap off a good performance from the Darts.
