Is Ange Postecoglou now on borrowed time at Spurs?

While the Tottenham hierarchy have shown faith in Postecoglou until now, they might be forced into a rethink after seeing the side crash out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup in a matter of just days.

That means that Spurs have to win the Europa League for Postecoglou to keep his record of having won trophies in his second season intact, a record which the Australian was bullish about at the start of the season.

Ahead of the club’s trip to Villa Park, it was reported that a defeat against Unai Emery’s men might spell curtains for the Spurs head coach, and we await to see if a change is imminent.

Spurs fans make their feelings clear on Postecoglou future

During Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat at Villa Park, which was the latest in a long line of abject performances that the Lilywhites have delivered this season, the Villa fans decided to mock Postecoglou.

Chris Cowling shared a video of the home fans singing “You’re getting sacked in the morning!” to the Tottenham boss.

What was interesting was the way that the Spurs travelling contingent responded to it, with the Tottenham faithful deciding to sign Mauricio Pochettino‘s name, clearly indicating that they want the Argentine back.

Why re-hiring Mauricio Pochettino will not be easy for Spurs

If Daniel Levy wanted to try and bring Pochettino back to the club to clean up the current mess, he would face some challenges in doing so.

The former Spurs manager only took over as USA’s head coach a few months ago, and it was reported last week that there is a clause in his contract that would create ‘major difficulties’ for anyone trying to price him away before next year’s World Cup.

It was also explained that the 52-year-old is ‘fully committed’ in his role and is keen on taking the USMNT team into their home World Cup.
