Julian Edelman Makes Request After Eagles Win Super Bowl LIX
Julian Edelman knows exactly what can happen when a major championship is won in a passionate sports city. The former wide receiver gained that knowledge from three Super Bowl celebrations over the course of his tenure with the New England Patriots.
So when the Eagles hoisted the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday evening, Edelman felt inclined to send a message to the very proud and dedicated Philadelphia fan base.
“Domination,” Edelman posted to X. “Stay safe tonight Philly.”
“Domination” probably was an understated way of describing what went down at Caesars Superdome on Super Sunday. The Eagles absolutely dismantled the Chiefs, who previously hadn’t lost a playoff contest since the 2021 AFC Championship Game. Jalen Hurts and company blitzed KC by jumping out to a 24-0 halftime lead and ultimately won by 18 points, the widest Super Bowl score margin since the Chiefs were throttled by Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in February 2021.
It’s unclear how closely Eagles fans followed Edelman’s advice Sunday night, but they should keep it in mind for the coming days as well. The team’s official X account suggested the championship parade will be held Friday.
