Three managers who could replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

0 6

Things have been going from bad to worse for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur.

Just days after their Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Liverpool, the Lilywhites also crashed out of the FA Cup following Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Aston Villa in the fourth round of the competition.

With 11 players unavailable for Spurs, Postecoglou didn’t have the option to make a raft of changes and so fielded a starting XI that looked no match to Villa.

It took Unai Emery’s side only 57 seconds to open the scoring, with Jacob Ramsey firing through the hands of Antonin Kinsky.

Morgan Rogers added another after the hour mark to seal Villa’s progress to the next round before Mathys Tel scored a late consolation.

The latest defeat will pile further pressure on Postecoglou, who could find himself out of the job soon.

Below we have taken a look at some big names who could replace the Australian boss at the club.

Andoni Iraola

The Spaniard has done a fantastic job at Bournemouth after taking over the club in the summer of 2023. He led his side to a 12th place finish in the Premier League last season, and they are expected to secure an even better finish in 2024-25 after an excellent start. The Cherries are currently sitting seventh in the league standings, having beaten the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Tottenham would love to appoint Andoni Iraola, who is young and has been very successful in the Premier League. However, Bournemouth wouldn’t want to lose their manager and would likely demand a huge sum to release him from his contract.

Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino still holds a deep connection with Tottenham, where he enjoyed a very successful spell. The Argentine boss led the Londoners to a Champions League final in 2019, but a poor run of form led to his dismissal later that year.

Pochettino is currently the manager of the United States national team following spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. A return to Spurs could be appealing for the 52-year-old, but it is unlikely he will miss the chance to lead the Yanks in the 2026 World Cup.

Edin Terzic

The German is currently one of the top names available for hire in the market. He led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final last season, but left his position by personal request in the summer.

Terzic doesn’t boast a lot of experience in management, but he was very successful during his stint at Dortmund. As he is currently not working at any club, it may be easier for Tottenham to get his services.
